History, conditions & layout

History

The Hungaroring was built in the 1980s as a tight, twisty “Monaco without walls” in a natural bowl—often a place where aero and tyre preservation decide races more than top speed.

Typical conditions

Mid-summer heat; dusty / green track on Friday, improving grip. Thunderstorms in the area can drench a narrow, technical lap where overtaking is hard even in the wet.

Track layout & design

A permanent but tight, twisty, low/medium speed lap with few long straights. Understeer management and rear tyre look after the traction zones are a core theme.
